Over the past 10 years, more than 150 medical devices have been recalled from the U.S. market because they posed a significant risk of injury to the public. The vast majority of these devices were intended to enhance the quality of life, and provide comfort and peace of mind for the recipient.
Unfortunately, even devices that have received approval from the FDA can have serious design flaws or manufacturing defects that result in injury or even death to unsuspecting consumers. Sadly, defective medical device injuries can change a victim’s life forever. This is particularly hard to accept when the device failed because the manufacturer cut corners to maximize profits, or released a product they knew posed serious dangers, but decided the risks were in the range of ‘acceptable failure.’
